Bike Geeks

If your bike needs a specialist, finding the right one nearby is harder than it should be. Bike Geeks set out to fix that with a directory built by cyclists for the cycling industry, bringing independent bike shops, mechanics and other service providers together in one place. Cyclists can search their local area, and businesses can list themselves for free to be found by riders who need them. Bike Geeks came to 2B to build the platform. We developed it as a Next.js website with location search and mapping powered by Google, and a connection to Strava that ties the directory into the tools cyclists already use.

The point of Bike Geeks is that a cyclist can find exactly the service they need close to them. That might be general maintenance, or something specialist like a frame builder, a suspension expert, an e-bike conversion or a mobile mechanic. The directory covers a wide range of these categories, so we built the search to let people filter by both location and the specific service they're after.

We built the site on Next.js and used the Google APIs to handle the location side, so someone can search their area and see relevant businesses on a map rather than working through a plain list. For the businesses, listing is free, and they get an account to manage their own details. That keeps the directory current without the Bike Geeks team maintaining every entry by hand, which matters when hundreds of businesses across the UK have already signed up.

Cyclists don't start from scratch when they want to track a ride or find a route. Many of them are already on Strava. So we connected Bike Geeks to the Strava API, tying the directory into a platform the cycling community uses day to day rather than asking people to work in isolation from it.

Underpinning all of this is Next.js, which lets us serve fast, well-structured pages for a directory that keeps growing as more businesses join. That speed matters for a site people often reach on their phone, mid-ride or at the roadside, and it helps the individual business listings show up well in search. The result is a platform that does one thing clearly: it puts cyclists and the independent experts who can help them in the same place.
