WordPress

WordPress runs a large share of the web, and a large share of the sites we look after. Most of the WordPress work that lands on our desk isn't a new build. It's a client who has inherited a site from a previous agency or developer, and needs someone to take it on, keep it running and make sensible decisions about what happens next.

What We Do

Hosting

We host WordPress sites on infrastructure built for it, not a shared server left over from 2014. That means proper backups, sensible security headers, and a setup that keeps loading quickly as the site grows. If your current host is slow, unreliable or you've simply lost track of who's paying for what, we'll take a look and tell you honestly whether it needs moving.

Taking Over From a Previous Agency or Developer

If your previous developer has gone quiet, moved on, or you'd simply rather work with someone local, we can take over the site as it stands. We start with an audit: what's installed, what's out of date, what's a security risk and what's fine as it is. You get a plain-English report, not a list of reasons to rebuild everything from scratch.

Minor Updates and Maintenance

Plugins, themes and WordPress core all need updating regularly, and each update carries a small risk of breaking something. We handle that on a schedule, test before we push changes live, and fix anything that needs fixing. Small content changes and day-to-day edits are part of the same service, so you're not waiting on a developer for a typo fix.

Migration and Offboarding

Some sites have outgrown WordPress, or need to move to a platform better suited to what the business does now. We plan the migration properly: what content moves, what redirects are needed so search rankings aren't lost, and what the timeline looks like. If you're moving away from us for any reason, we'll hand everything over cleanly too.

Why Clients Come to Us for This

Most agencies want to talk about new builds. Fewer want to talk about keeping an existing site healthy, and fewer still are honest about when a site doesn't actually need rebuilding.

We'll tell you plainly if your site is in reasonable shape and just needs proper maintenance. We'll also tell you plainly if it's carrying real risk, out of date plugins, no backups, a host that's one bad day away from losing everything, and explain what fixing that involves and why it matters.

Taking over a site from a previous developer can feel awkward, particularly if the relationship didn't end well or nobody's quite sure what state things are left in. We handle that part often enough that it isn't awkward for us. We ask for access, we look, we tell you what we find, and we get on with the work.

The same goes at the other end. If a client needs to move on from us, whether to another agency or an in-house team, we make that straightforward. You paid for the site and the content on it, and you should be able to take both with you without a fight.
